Zimmermann vs Hunza G: Which One Deserves Your Money?

By The Swim Edit · April 2026

Two of the most coveted names in luxury swimwear. Both iconic. Both expensive. But wildly different in almost every way that matters. If you're choosing between them — and at these price points, you probably are — here's what you need to know.

The Design Philosophy

Zimmermann is maximalism done right. Whimsical prints, romantic ruffles, feminine detailing that makes every piece feel like a holiday outfit, not just swimwear. Their aesthetic is "Italian Riviera in the 1960s" crossed with "modern Sydney socialite." Every collection tells a story.

Hunza G is the polar opposite. Minimal, unfussy, quietly luxurious. Their signature crinkle-stretch fabric comes in solid colours — no prints, no patterns, just beautiful simplicity. The aesthetic is "I don't need embellishment to look incredible."

Pricing

Zimmermann bikini sets typically run £280-450. One-pieces range from £250-500. Their ready-to-wear (which increasingly blurs into swimwear) goes even higher.

Hunza G sits lower at £150-215 for most pieces. Their one-size model means fewer SKUs and lower production costs, which they pass on — relatively speaking.

Winner: Hunza G. You get luxury quality at a slightly less eye-watering price point.

Sizing & Fit

This is where Hunza G has a genuine advantage. Their crinkle-stretch fabric is designed to fit UK sizes 6-16 in a single size. It sounds like marketing nonsense, but it actually works — the fabric stretches and moulds to your body shape without losing its structure.

Zimmermann uses conventional sizing (0-5 in their system, roughly UK 6-16). Their fits can be inconsistent between collections, and some styles run small. Always check the size guide.

Winner: Hunza G. One size that genuinely fits most is a standout for online shopping.

Durability

Both brands use premium materials. Hunza G's crinkle-stretch is practically indestructible — it resists chlorine, salt water, and sun cream better than any other fabric I've tested. Zimmermann's fabrics are beautiful but require more care; the printed pieces especially need gentle handling.

Winner: Hunza G. That crinkle fabric is genuinely built to last years.

Versatility

Zimmermann wins here. Their pieces transition from beach to restaurant effortlessly — a Zimmermann one-piece with a linen skirt and sandals is a complete outfit. Hunza G is beautiful but reads more obviously as "swimwear."

Winner: Zimmermann. If you want swim-to-dinner versatility, they can't be beat.

The Verdict

Choose Hunza G if: You value simplicity, want hassle-free sizing, and prefer pieces that last forever. Great for everyday luxury.

Choose Zimmermann if: You want statement pieces that make you feel like the most stylish person at the resort. Great for special occasions and holidays.

My personal approach? Own both. A Hunza G for the everyday, and a Zimmermann for when you want to be unforgettable.
