Postpartum Swimwear — Real Recommendations

By The Swim Edit · May 2026

Nobody tells you how complicated swimwear becomes after having a baby. Your body has changed — maybe temporarily, maybe permanently — and the bikini you wore last summer does not fit the same way. That is not a problem to solve. It is a reality to dress for, beautifully.

What Actually Changes

Beyond the obvious size fluctuations, postpartum bodies often deal with things swimwear was not designed for: diastasis recti (abdominal separation), C-section scars, breastfeeding, and a general sense that everything has shifted slightly. Your swimwear needs to accommodate all of that while still making you feel like you.

The One-Piece Is Your Best Friend

A well-cut one-piece is the single best investment for the postpartum period. Not because you need to cover up — wear what you want — but because a good one-piece provides gentle support without compression, smooths without squeezing, and eliminates the “does this sit right?” anxiety entirely.

Hunza G is exceptional postpartum. The crinkle fabric stretches to accommodate your current body without question — no sizing charts, no “will this fit?” anxiety. It moulds to you, wherever you are right now. The texture also provides a subtle smoothing effect without any restrictive compression.

If You Want a Bikini

Wear one. Seriously. If you want a bikini, wear a bikini. But choose wisely:

High-waisted bottoms are your friend. They sit above the C-section scar line, provide gentle midsection support, and look deliberately stylish. High-waisted bikini bottoms from Monday Swimwear are the best we have found — they hit at the natural waist and stay put.

Supportive tops matter more than ever, especially if you are breastfeeding or your cup size has changed. Look for tops with adjustable straps and some structure. Supportive bikini tops with underwire or bralette-style construction offer genuine hold.

For Breastfeeding

Triangle tops and front-tie bikinis are the most practical for nursing access. You can discreetly adjust without a full wardrobe change by the pool. Nursing-friendly swimwear has come a long way — some brands now design specifically for breastfeeding mothers without sacrificing style.
